PolyPOS handles table orders, takeaway, kitchen tickets, payments and end-of-shift reports, in English and Chinese, and is set up for Australian GST and tax invoices.

The restaurant version already runs on a local network in a web browser. So far it has been tested with demo data and simulated printers, not yet on real printers or in a real restaurant. The iPad app is being built from it.
Lay out the room with square and round tables. Seat a party, drag them to another table, and merge bills or join tables. Every device updates straight away.
Take orders with a customer's name, and let them pay now or when they pick up.
Orders go to kitchen and bar printers or to a kitchen screen. Orders with dishes not yet sent show in red, so they're harder to miss.
Cash with change and 5-cent rounding, card with tips, and bills split evenly or by amount. For now, cards are taken on the restaurant's own terminal and marked as paid in PolyPOS. A direct connection to supported terminals is planned.
Discounts on a dish or the whole bill, with manager approval for staff, plus scheduled promotions such as happy hour.
Refund by dish or by amount, split across the original payment methods if needed. A reason is required, staff need manager approval, and a refund note can be printed. Card refunds are made on the restaurant's own terminal.
Count the starting cash, record cash in and out, and close the shift with a Z report that shows whether the drawer is over or short.
Net sales by hour or day, payment methods, categories, staff and best-selling dishes, plus GST and BAS figures and CSV export.
Keep dishes in English and Chinese with sizes and options, and import dishes, sizes and prices from a CSV file. Staff sign in with a PIN, and each role sees only what it needs.
Switch the screens between English and Chinese. Dish names are kept in both languages, and receipts and kitchen tickets can print the Chinese names too, on a printer with a Chinese font.
In development
The iPad app is being built so that, if the internet drops but the restaurant's Wi-Fi stays up, one iPad can keep the others going. The aim is for orders, kitchen tickets and cash sales to carry on, and for orders to sync once the connection is back. This hasn't been tried in a restaurant yet.
An online service will keep each restaurant's data separate and backed up, and let owners check reports on their phone.
Menu prices include GST, worked out as one-eleventh of the price. Items can be set as GST-free, and reports show G1, G3 and 1A figures for your BAS, to confirm with your accountant.
For businesses registered for GST: enter your ABN and receipts print as tax invoices with the GST amount, and refund notes print as adjustment notes. There's no separate setup yet for businesses not registered for GST.
Australia no longer has 1c or 2c coins, so PolyPOS rounds cash payments to the nearest 5 cents. Card payments stay exact.
Sunday and public holiday surcharges are off until you switch them on. PolyPOS doesn't add card surcharges: from 1 October 2026, Visa, Mastercard, eftpos and American Express no longer allow them.
Once a restaurant goes live, paid orders and dishes sent to the kitchen can't be deleted. Mistakes are voided and money returned goes through as a refund, and both stay on record.
An accountant hasn't checked these rules yet. That will happen before PolyPOS is used in a real restaurant. PolyPOS doesn't give tax advice, so please rely on your accountant and the ATO.
Ordering, kitchen tickets, payments, refunds, shift close and reports, tested with demo data and simulated printers.
Moving the restaurant version onto iPad, with offline use and syncing.
Testing with real iPads, printers and cash drawers, then a trial in one restaurant using Apple's TestFlight.
Opening up once the trial is running smoothly, with a direct connection to supported card terminals in place first.
Barcode scanning, scales and stock.
